Terms & Conditions is a project by Mahoutondji Kinmagbo, developed during Web Residencies No. 22, “Ignore All Previous Instructions”, at Akademie Schloss Solitude, curated by !Mediengruppe Bitnik.

This piece is part of a research project “The Memory Performer” I have being developping around the Lukasa. The Lukasa is a memory board of the Mbudye society of the Luba people, in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo. Beads and carved patterns hold history, genealogy and cosmology, and the board opens through initiation, a trained body and a relationship. This page is built on that way of knowing: knowledge is given through patience and never taken by command.
